Grumpy-butt makes a friend

I hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving weekend. I sure did! Besides having lots of yummy food to eat (my dad is very considerate and even made me vegan dressing!) my grumpy girl made a friend. My sister Heidi adopted a 10 month old pug from a coworker who “had too many dogs”. After learning that one of her kids slammed his head in a door, blinding him in one eye (poor guy!) I’d have to agree! Myles is so cute, full of energy and very squeaky and barky. I love it.

Kyla has a sordid past before we adopted her and as such is maladjusted to nearly everything and everyone. She was never socialized with other dogs and we were told she had quite the aggression problem when we got her, so we weren’t sure how they would mesh. Let me tell you they LOVE each other.

They love to play. After they spent the first twenty minutes or so chasing each other around my mom’s living room, they commenced to playing bitey-face for the next 37 hours or so. They were both worn OUT Thursday night.

They played again on Sunday and wore each other out again. Watching them is hilarious and I am so happy that Kyla gets along with him. Jimmy has been wanting to adopt a brother for Kyla for some time, but I had reservations about it since she simply hasn’t been around many dogs. After seeing her interact with Myles in a completely normal dog fashion, we have decided to adopt another Boston.

Old Dominion Boston Terrier Rescue is on the lookout for Kyla’s brother, and we have a candidate in mind that should be coming to them in a few weeks. After he gets neutered and up to date on all his shots, we’re going to introduce them and see how they do! Wish us luck, my hardwood floors are already screaming at the thought of all those nails tapdancing on them 24 hours a day.

Wow. That is great to hear. I know that my dog enjoys having company, however, I can’t fathom having two right now. My yard isn’t big enough. Nala, my dog, has a different idea. She recently “adopted” the next door neighbors dog. I’ll post pictures on my blog soon. It’s quite cute. Best of luck with your new addition.

That’s so cute!! I have 3 dogs, one of which is very, VERY picky about the friends she makes. OK, she’s a bitch … in every sense of the word. LOL! But for whatever reason, she loves every single boy Pug we’ve ever come near. I guess she’s got her “type” just like the rest of us girls.

My other two … well, they are like your video 24/7. Well, OK, 16/7, allowing for naps. It’s funny and annoying at the same time. No throw rug is ever in the same position from hour to hour.

Good luck finding your new little boy!

    Congratulations!

I remember you posting in the past about worrying that Kyla would never make a doggie friend - it’s great to see she has!

Your Kyla will adjust and be so happy! My dogs really keep each other company and are less stressed when we are away. We adopted an older dog (dachshund) to be company to our dachshund/terrier mix and even though our mix is evil to him sometimes (she is just younger and more playful) he just howls when she is away for any period of time. The dachshund was also abused before we got him and he does not like big dogs and we were worried about him with my one cousin’s two chihuahuas and my other cousins shih tzu and yorkie and they got along wonderfully! They are so resilient! I’m sure your dog will take adjusting to sharing the love and attention, but will not remember life without the new one. Good luck!

Much happiness for you on the puppy friend joy!!! Can’t wait to see the new baby.

Aww, Kyla! I’m glad she has a new pup-buddy. It’s the best when they can tire each other out.

Yay! I’m so happy you are talking about getting another boston. When we first got Chubby he was kind of lonely so we got Mynne for him to play with and they love each other. Mynne actually can be kind of dog aggressive, but she and chubs are best friends.

:) These dogs have the cutest faces, I have to show these to a friend of mine, she has three.
